Running with the Giants
by John C. Maxwell
Reviewed by Tyora Moody
"Wherefore, seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us" ... Hebrews 12:1
Maxwell cleverly sets up a race with the participating runners being believers in Jesus Christ. On the side cheering the believers on are those who previously ran the race, many whom are mentioned in the great faith chapter, Hebrews 11. Moses, David, Noah, and Esther are just a few of the "giants", the author chooses to highlight in the crowd (cloud of witnesses). Each person runs by the side of the believer and provides encouraging advice and a prayer. The author provide questions at the end of each chapter for the reader to reflect on his or her "experience" after meeting one of the giants.
This is a short, easy read and serves as a great motivator for new or older believers! The book is a great reminder, we indeed have a cloud of witnesses cheering us on in our daily race. We only have to open the pages of our bible to meet them and learn from their experiences.
